Our Work

2e 101 was founded by FlexSchool in 2024 as a way to give back in honor of our 10th anniversary, by sharing resources, expert advice, and a unique window into the lived experiences of parents, professionals, educators, and students we’ve met over 10 years of 2e and gifted education.

But through this work, something important has become clear: This is no longer just about a small group of outliers.

As expectations, demands, and the pace of information continue to increase, we’re left with school systems straining under societal forces that no individual school or teacher created—and the result is that students are being pulled into a vast and expanding system of diagnoses, medications, therapies, and interventions just to be able to make it through the typical school day. And sometimes all of that still doesn’t work, leaving some families little choice but to opt out of the whole system and seek alternatives.

And more and more families are recognizing an important truth:

The students are not the problem. The system simply hasn’t kept up.

That's what we want to change.

FlexSchool has shown what’s possible when learning is designed around how students actually think, grow, and engage with the world. And the very practices that help our students thrive—a strengths-based approach, authentic relationships, and environments that honor the learner’s needs—can help all students thrive.

That’s why, through 2e 101, we’re bringing what we’ve learned out into the world, sharing practical insight, research-informed guidance, and real-world strategies so schools, educators, and institutions beyond FlexSchool can begin to do better by these students.

By making the needs of these brilliant, creative, and talented learners visible, we help move the world toward a long-overdue shift—one where they are recognized, supported, and valued not just in classrooms, but in college, work, and life.

Our goals:

• K–12 scholarships to support students attending 2e schools

• Higher education scholarships for university students pursuing degrees and professions that support 2e students.

• Professional development for schools to promote 2e best practices to benefit all learners

rodivergent, and twice-exceptional (2e) students through funding, awareness, and advocacy.
